Sag Harbor ticks sit on a village house that straddles the town line
The village is two towns. The hedge is still East End grass. Treat the clothes. Do not invent a well census for Main Street.

The village sits on two towns
Sag Harbor is an incorporated village. Part of it sits in the Town of Southampton. Part of it sits in the Town of East Hampton. The town line runs through the place people type as one name. That is why this URL exists. A Southampton search should land on the Southampton town note. An East Hampton search should land on East Hampton. Montauk keeps the point. Amagansett keeps the stretch between village and dune. Shelter Island keeps the ferry in the bay this harbor looks at. Springs keeps Accabonac. None of those pages are this village house.
The envelope can say Sag Harbor and still sit in either town. The clerk, the tax roll, and the lot-spray calendar can disagree from one block to the next. A walk down a village street can cross the town line without changing the village name on the mailbox. The hedge does not care which town issued the permit. Ticks live in grass, leaf litter, and the seam where a village lot meets a pond, a marsh, or a wooded neighbor. That is East End ecology — grass and edge habitat after a wet spring — written here so a Sag Harbor search does not have to borrow a town page or a beach hamlet.
North Haven is a different village next door. Do not paste this copy onto that search. Do not paste it onto Bridgehampton, Noyack, or Wainscott. Those places are not this village. They do not inherit this hop. Do not clone Montauk's beach-then-hedge onto Main Street. Do not clone Springs Accabonac onto this harbor. The South Fork is not one URL with the village name swapped in the title.
Village grass is still a clothes job
A Sag Harbor street can look like a movie set from the curb and still have a tick seam behind the fence. The walk from the door to the harbor, to the park, or to a cookout on a side street is enough. You do not need a preserve. Reaching into taller stuff for a ball, a hose, or a trash can past the mowed middle is the minute the cuff is for. Guests who arrive in shorts for Main Street still cut through someone else's back lot to see the water. Treat the clothes they actually walk in, not a hiking costume they left at home.
Two towns may run two mist calendars. Neither mist rides a pant cuff onto the next village street, into the woods behind the lot, or onto a guest who walked over from a different tax roll. A fogger stays on that lot. Clothes travel. If the house sits quiet through the week and fills on Friday, treat a set on a dry day before the car unloads. The town line does not treat a cuff. A Southampton-side lot and an East Hampton-side lot in this village still walk the same hedge class. They do not share a clerk. They share this URL.
How to treat the clothes, the dryer step, and the cat warning live on the ticks page. This URL is the town-line village version: treat, walk, check. Do not hang a listed-site headline on a cuff.
The island has 34 federal plus 449 state listed sites — 483 in all, not 500 Superfunds. Those listings sit on the same sand. They do not tell you whether a tick is on a Sag Harbor pant leg. Calverton and Bethpage are other towns with other meters. Do not copy a plume onto this harbor. East End ticks are ecology. They are not a Superfund SKU.
The village house is the other job
Ticks are the default hop on this page. The house is still a house. Sag Harbor stock is a village house — older rooms, a stair, often one wet room — not a Levittown Cape census and not a Babylon ranch in the South Shore care ring. People born from 1946 through 1964 are 61 to 79 years old in 2025. If someone in this village house still uses a high tub and the plan is to stay, grab bars and a shower seat are the aging page. That is a different Saturday. Do not wait for a 2031 start date. Do not shop steel in the same sentence as a cuff.
Island house prices ran about four times since 1990 on the federal index. Pay ran about three. East End listings sit in the expensive tail of that gap. This URL will not invent a Sag Harbor sale number. The comparison lives on housing. If the decision is already to leave, you need a truck, not a second bottle of fabric spray and not a new shower. Siena still finds most people calling life here good and also that younger adults cannot stay. Both can be true in a Sag Harbor kitchen. Do not hang that poll on permethrin.
A canopy and patio chairs are the outdoor page if the house is staying and the yard is for sitting. Folding steel in a packed bay is the garage page. Sitting in the yard is not the clothes job, even though both happen on the same grass. Treat what you wear on this URL. Buy shade on that one. Keep the buttons apart.
No well census unless this kitchen is a well
Suffolk's water plan still cites about 45,000 private wells, on the order of 200,000 people. That is a plan figure, not a door-to-door count of Sag Harbor. This village does not get a well census on this page. Mixed lots exist on the East End. One kitchen can pay a district. The next lot, toward a pond or a wood line, can still draw from the yard. A neighbor's tap is not your pipe. The village name on the envelope does not settle it.
Walk the grass for a round cap. Listen for a pump and a pressure tank. Then look at the bills. If a water-district bill never shows up and people still drink, cook, and make coffee from that tap, treat the kitchen as a well until a lab says otherwise. That Saturday is the well guide, not this button. Fill bottles at the cold tap you actually drink from. Do not wash them with soap. Do not sample the hot side. Do not fill from a garden hose or an outdoor shower. If the well only waters the lawn and the kettle already sits on a treated district line, skip the kit.
Do not paste Mattituck's 20-of-38 PFAS round onto Main Street. Do not paste Calverton's Navy/Grumman site figures — 14.9 ppb of 1,4-dioxane, 7,580 ppt of PFNA — onto this harbor. Those are other URLs. From 2016 through 2022, Suffolk sampled private wells. About 47 percent of those sampled wells showed some PFAS. Two hundred two were over drinking-water standards. That is the wells they sampled. It is not a Sag Harbor score. New York limits two common PFAS at 10 parts per trillion. You will not taste that. A clear glass is not a test.
Suffolk still sells a $100 private-well test. Call 631-852-5810 if you want that product. It looks at bacteria, nitrates, and metals. It does not look for PFAS. It does not look for 1,4-dioxane. This site is not that office. A twelve-dollar strip will not find those chemicals either. If a report comes back high for PFAS, NSF 53 or P473, or reverse osmosis. If 1,4-dioxane is high, reverse osmosis — not a pitcher. Test first if you drink a well. Buying the box first is how a jug ends up in the fridge and the well stays the well.
Unsewered is not the same as a private well. About 74 percent of Suffolk homes still sit on a septic tank or cesspool. Nassau is about 85 percent sewered. A Sag Harbor village lot can pay a water bill and still send bathroom water into a tank on the same sand. The island is a sole-source aquifer, designated in 1978. Nassau and Suffolk have no backup drinking water. That sand story does not pick this button. The default hop on this village URL is still clothes. The kit is only if this kitchen is a well.

Common questions
Is Sag Harbor in Southampton or East Hampton?
Both. The village straddles the Town of Southampton and the Town of East Hampton. The town line does not pick the clothes hop.
Is this a well-kit page by default?
No. This URL starts with ticks. A well kit is only if this kitchen actually drinks a well.
Does the town line change the clothes job?
No. Permethrin on pants and socks. Southampton Town and East Hampton Town keep their own URLs.
Is this the same as East Hampton Town or Southampton Town?
No. Those are town notes. This page is the village house on the line between them.
Should I spray the yard instead of the clothes?
Clothes first. A lot treatment stays on that lot. It does not follow a cuff down the next village street.
What if this kitchen actually drinks a well?
Then use the well guide. Fill bottles at the cold tap you drink. Do not hang that kit on a tick, and do not hang permethrin on a tap.
Is this a Superfund page?
No. Listed industrial sites are a different list: 34 federal plus 449 state, 483 in all, not 500 Superfunds.
Village of Sag Harbor straddles Southampton and East Hampton; East End tick load is grass and edge habitat; Deziel 2025 listed-site add 34 federal + 449 state; Suffolk well-plan figure is not a village census; county well-test line 631-852-5810; NYS PFAS MCL 10 ppt; clothing permethrin is a fabric treatment.
